Course Description:  This course provides a continuation of the comprehensive study of the anatomy and physiology of the human body.  Topics include the endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems as well as metabolism, nutrition, acid-base balance, and fluid and electrolyte balance.

 

Course Competencies:  Upon satisfactory completion of Anatomy and Physiology II, students should be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the following principles of anatomy and physiology and their interrelationships:

            Anatomical terminology

            Body organization

            Homeostasis

The Endocrine System

            The Cardiovascular System

            The Lymphatic System

            The Respiratory System

            The Digestive System

            The Urinary System

            The Reproductive System

 

Methods of Teaching:   Lecture/discussion, performance based learning activities, classroom hands-on activities, demonstrations, laboratory investigations, videos, computer software/on-line activities, and student presentations.

Attendance Policy:  Attendance at all scheduled lecture and lab periods is expected.  Make up labs and tests shall only be permitted in cases where students have prior approval to be absent from the instructor or a true emergency existed causing a student's absence (the determination will be at the instructor's discretion). A student who misses 20% of class or two consecutive weeks will be dropped from the class. A student may be exempt from the final exam if the student has an A average and no more than one absence.
