Course Description: Courses 115 and 116 are designed to develop the student’s skills in specialty services.  The student should have completed all of the basic studies related to the Cosmetology course and should have developed the manual dexterity to perform the intricate tasks that are required for these courses.

           Study Guide, Practical workbook, Theory workbook, Student CDRom.

 

Grading Procedure:  7(seven)-point system as described in the BCC catalog will apply.

Lab assignments and class participation will be considered in the final grade.  Each student will be responsible for all material covered during his or her absence, please call the instructor to receive this information.  If a test is given while a student is absent due to illness, the test must be taken on the first day of their return with doctor’s excuse.

Attendance:  Attendance at all class meetings is expected.  Absences must not exceed 20% of scheduled class time at any time during the course of the semester.  Students whose absences exceed 20% of all scheduled contact hours will be dropped from the course due to excessive absences.

 

Cell Phone Policy: Cellular telephones, beepers, two-way radios, and similar devices may cause distraction and/or disruption of the learning environment.  Students are to keep all such devices turned off during class.  Students with extenuating circumstances must seek permission from the instructor to have such devices turned on in class.

 

Method of Instruction: Lecture, discussion, demonstrations and guided lab work with evaluation of student’s skills by chapter tests, practical evaluations and a comprehensive final exam.

 

Method of Evaluation: Cos 115(Theory):  Course assignments will be averaged and count as 25% of your grade. Chapter test grades are averaged together to count as 50% of your final grade. (Your lowest chapter test grade will be dropped before the other chapter tests are averaged).  25% of your grade will be your final exam.

 

Method of Evaluation: Cos 116(Practical):  A state performance requirement sheet must be completed before the week of final practical exams.  This sheet counts as 25% of the final grade.  A grade of “0” will be given for each grade not completed.  Practical Assignments evaluations will count as 25% of your grade. Uniform/appearance and sanitation will count as 25% of your final grade.  Final exam will count as 25% of your grade.
