COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate and apply advanced techniques associated with haircutting, hair coloring, and formal hairstyling.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is divided into four major units with an in-depth study of each topic. The course covers methods and techniques used for razor cutting, traditional and modern barbering for men, dimensional color placement, and the art of finished looks.
COURSE LENGTH: One Semester.
REFERENCE: Milady’s Textbook, Men's Hairdressing, various industry publications.
SUPPLIES: One longhaired manikin, one med-length manikin, one Mr. Sam bearded manikin, work kit, textbook, pens, pencils, 3-ring binder, notebook paper, one disposable camera. Note: Live models may be used for all practical assignments; the instructor must be informed and give permission prior to using a live model for any of the practical assignments.
Method of Evaluation: Students will be given written exams and practical evaluations on each unit of instruction covered. All written exams will be averaged and counted as 25% of the final grade. The practical evaluations will be averaged and counted as 50% of the final grade. Uniform/appearance and sanitation will count as 25% of the final grade.

Attendance: Attendance is expected for all scheduled classes. Absences must not exceed 20% of scheduled class time at any time during the course of the semester. Student’s whose absences exceed 20% of all scheduled contact hours will be dropped from the course due to the excessive absences.
