COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

This course introduces economic analysis of individual, business, and industry in the market economy. Topics include the price mechanism, supply and demand, optimizing economic behavior, costs and revenue, market structures, factor markets, income distribution, market failure, and government intervention.

“Principles of Macroeconomics, Third Edition.

Mankiw, Ft. Worth, Texas: Thompson, 2004

ATTENDANCE:

Students are expected to attend class and be punctual.

Three Lates = 1 Absence.

Make up Exams, if allowed, will be given on the next school day.

 


ECO 252, Mastering the Global Economy, is not airing on UNC PBS this semester, 2005.

 

You may check out the video tapes in Building 1 if you have a library card, or view these tapes in the BCC Library at no charge.

It is your responsibility to accomplish withdrawal procedures if you do not want to complete the course.

 

RECOMMENDED APPROACH:

 

Prior to viewing the video lessons:

 

1.Read the text chapters and study guide.

2.Read the self–test questions and discussion topics.

3.Pay attention to chapter titles, sub–headings and terminology.

4.Record the lessons if you can to allow for review. They are designed to flesh out the reading, however, not replace it. The entire series of videos is on reserve at the BCC Library if you are unable to record the lessons.
