Description:

This course introduces basic spreadsheet design and development. Topics include writing formulas, using functions, enhancing spreadsheets, creating charts, and printing. Upon completion, students should be able to design and print basic spreadsheets and charts.

Assignments:

Each unit is made up of 3 or 4 lessons. Example, unit 1 is made up of lessons 1-4. Contained in each lesson are a number of exercises which you perform with the computer. Lesson 1 it is pages 6- 27. At the end of lesson 1, page 35, exercise 1-25 Challenge Yourself,On Your Own pages 36-37 exercises 1-26,1-27,1-28 your are to complete and save these exercises to a disk. This is for each lesson in the course, Challenge Yourself and On Your Own. In addition there are unit applications. Example unit 1 pages 149-154 contains 4 applications for the student to complete. Make sure you name these files properly and save to a disk. The instructor will ask the student from time to time and at random to submit files.These assignments are 30% of your grade.Students must submit a disk with all required work at the end of the semester.

Remember you will be using files as requested from your student disk(Read Only). You must copy the file, change the properties to archive, rename, and save to another disk. The student disk is a library, do not work or save work to it.

Project:

Each student will create a project of their own selection which demonstrates as many skills as the student has mastered. Due May 5, this is 20% of the student grade.

Discussion Board:

Each student is required to check into the Discussion Board, Student Coffeeshop twice a week to discuss any problems with fellow students. This is 10% of the grade.

Academic Integrity will be observed at all times. The student will do their own work. No copying or plagiarism. A student can be called in to take a proctored exam or project at any time to prove competence.
