The JobLink Career Center is a dynamic system established to accommodate all employment and training services for all customers, including job seekers, job changers, and employers.  The system is moving from separate agency efforts to an integrated system.   The seven guiding principles for the Center leadership, information and analysis, strategic planning, human resource utilization, process management, customer satisfaction and results.

 

The Bladen JobLink Career Center is based on the “One-Stop” concept where information about and access to a wide array of job training, education, and employment services is available for citizens of Bladen County.  Customer will be able to easily:

v     Receive a preliminary assessment of their skill levels, aptitudes, abilities, and support services needs.

v     Obtain information on a full array of employment-related services, including information about local education and service providers. 

v     Receiving help filing claims for unemployment insurance and evaluating eligibility for job training and education programs or student financial aid.

v     Obtain job search and placement assistance, and receive career counseling.

v     Have access to up-to-date labor market information which identifies job vacancies, skills necessary for in-demand jobs, and provides information about local, regional and national employment trends.

Through JobLink, employers will have a single point of contact to provide information about current and future skills needed by their workers and to list job openings.  They will benefit from a single system for finding job-ready skilled workers who meet their needs.

 

The Bladen WIA (Workforce Investment Act) Adult and Dislocated Worker Program is a federally funded program designed to assist individuals in gaining skills for career development.  The program has two sections, the first is On-The-Job Training and the second is Occupations Skills Training. 

Occupational Skills Training assists participants in gaining  employment through classes.  Participants are given the opportunity to enroll in short term training such as Human Resource Development Courses, Certified Nursing Assist Courses, Phlebotomy, etc. Participants can also enroll in long term training; earn an Associate Degree from a community college.  The Bladen WIA Adult & Dislocated Worker Program pays for books, tuition and fees only for full or part time attendance.  Participants must maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average. 

 

 Funding is limited and this is not a guaranteed program.
