ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Spring 2007 & Fall 2007 Admission
- Obtain
packet of information, including an application, from a Counselor in
Student Services, Building 2, or
from Ms. Sarah Baker, Program Secretary, Room 113, Health Education
Building.
- Request
official transcripts of all previous post-secondary education to be sent
to Student Services.
- Attain
Compass Test Scores required for program in Student Services: Reading 82;
Writing 70; Pre-Algebra 65.
- Complete
Algebra, Chemistry, & Biology prerequisites with a grade of “C” or
better by the application deadline. (LPN’s must also complete NUR 189 Nursing Transition in
order to apply for Spring 2007 admission).
- Call Student
Services to set up an appointment to take the Nurse Entrance Test (NET),
if you have completed Steps 1, 2, and 3, and if you have completed, or are
enrolled in the courses in Step 4. There is a $30 fee which must be paid
in the Business Office prior to taking the test.
- Submit
your completed application for the program the day you take the NET Test. You
will now have officially applied for the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
Application deadline for Fall 2007 admission to this program is May
18, 2007. The
deadline for Spring 2006 admission (LPN’s & transfers from other nursing programs only)
is December 1, 2006.
- After each
deadline, all applications will be reviewed to finalize their eligibility,
including attainment of NET scores: Basic Math Skills 62; Science Reading
Comprehension 55; Composite 60.
- Eligible
applicants will be ranked according to a scoring process: Criteria for
Selecting Students, included in the packet of information from Step 1.
- Notification
letters (along with the required NC Community College System physical exam
& immunization form) will be sent to Spring 2007 applicants accepted
into the program no later than December
8, 2006. Notification
letters will be sent to Fall 2007 applicants accepted into the program by
the Vice President of Student Services no later than June 15, 2007.
- Return
your verification of program admission letter to Ms. Yvonne Willoughby in
Student Services by the deadline specified in notification letter from
Step 9.
- Make
an appointment for a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner
to complete your physical exam & immunization record. Obtain Basic
Life Support Adult & Child CPR certification from the American Red
Cross or the American Heart Association.
- Submit
completed physical exam and immunization record, & copy of current CPR
certification to Ms. Sarah Baker, Program Secretary, Room 113, Health
Education Building,
no later than the first day of nursing class.
