Author and Poet Bruce Lader Shares His Work with BCC

Bladen Community College invites the public to hear poet and author Bruce Lader reading from his books and magazine articles on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11 A.M. in the Student Resource Center.

 

Lader is the author of Fugitive Hope (Červená Barva Press, 2014), Embrace (Big Table Publishing, 2010), Landscapes of Longing (Main Street Rag Publishing, 2009), and Discovering Mortality (March Street Press, 2005). In 2010, Lader won the Left Coast Eisteddfod Poetry Competition and was a finalist for the Brockman-Campbell Book Award.

 

His journal appearances include Poetry, New York Quarterly, International Poetry Review, the Southern Poetry Anthology, the Oxford Anthology of Contemporary Jewish-American Poets, the Einstein Journal of Biology and Medicine, New Millennium Writings, Asheville Poetry Review, and the Tulane Review.

 

In 2015, Červená Barva Press nominated “Winter Night Fugue” for a Pushcart Prize. He received a writer-in-residence fellowship from The Wurlitzer Foundation and an honorarium from the College of Creative Studies at UC-Santa Barbara.

 

Currently, Lader is director of Bridges Tutoring, a Raleigh-based organization that educates multicultural students.

 

His reading at BCC will includes excerpts from his four books and magazine publications, covering a wide scope of topics from love and intimacy to personal, social, and political perspectives on justice,  portraits of different personalities, and lessons learned from despair, disappointment, and longing.
