Awarding Winning Author Speaks at Bladen Community College
DUBLIN – Bladen Community College invited the public to its spring Writers Series to hear guest author Randell Jones reading and sharing stores from Dr. H.G. Jones book, “Scoundrels, Rogues, and Heroes of the Old North State”. The special event was held on Monday, February 25, 3019 at 11 A.M. in the Student Resource Center. This work was edited by Randell Jones and spans 400 years, from the golden age of pirates to the early 20th century.
The event was free and open to the public. This program is part of the Writers Series at Bladen Community College and is made possible by a grant from the NC Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and BCC.
Randell Jones, an Arkansas native who adopted North Carolina after attending the University of North Carolina, lives in Winston-Salem and is past president of the Overmountain Victory Trail Association. He is a consultant to the National Parks Service and owns a communications and leadership consulting business. His articles are often published in statewide publications.
Mr. Jones has written books and articles, produced movies and audio programs, and shared with audiences in person remarkable tales about the Tar Heel State and its unique and colorful history. He is also the author of “In the Footsteps of Daniel Boone”, recipient of the 2006 Willie Parker Peace History Book Award from the North Carolina Society of Historians. Jones’ reading at BCC included an opportunity to purchase his books and get a personalized autograph.
