BCC Minority Male Students Have Orientation

min men

New student orientation for the Fall 2019 Cohort of Minority Male Students was held recently on Bladen Community College’s campus. The purpose of the orientation was to kick off the year by making sure students were introduced to the college president and other campus leaders; met each other as a cohort; and to ensure students were able to access resources and felt comfortable using the electronic platforms they will need to use to be successful students.

The Minority Male Initiative is devoted to increasing enrollment and retention of minority male students at Bladen Community College and ensuring those students successfully graduate. Members of the program participate in professional development training in preparation for the world-of-work, completion of community college degree or certifications as well as transferring into four-year colleges and universities.

Students will meet once a week to plan assignment work, build camaraderie, motivate each other to meet academic progression requirements, and to carryout special initiatives amongst themselves and on campus.  Anyone interested in supporting the program, mentoring a participant or joining the group, please contact John Green, BCC Recruitment and Retention Counselor, at 910.870.5591.
