Former Dallas Cowboys Pro Football Player to Speak at BCC
Bladen Community College will welcome former NFL football player Jimmie Simmons to campus on Tues., Mar. 21, at 11 a.m., in the Student Resource Center. Simmons played professional football with the Dallas Cowboys and will speak as part of the Male Minority Mentoring program.
A Wilmington native, Simmons played football at New Hanover High School. “I had a good junior year and an excellent senior year,” stated Simmons, “and I was recruited by just about every team in the ACC except Georgia Tech.”
Simmons accepted a spot on the Wake Forest University football team, where he became the Defensive Player of the Year and moved on to the National Football League draft. He signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys.
Now a 24-year veteran with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Simmons is currently the Commander of the Court Security Section of the Judicial Division. He is actively involved in the community.
The public is invited to attend this motivation guest speaker presentation on the Dublin campus of Bladen Community College.
