Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Campus

The public is invited to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Tues., Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at a celebration in the college auditorium.  Local community advocate and former Bladen County commissioner, Arthur Bullock, is the keynote speaker.

Bullock, retired after 40 years of employment with the Social Security Administration, has served Bladen County as a volunteer emergency medical technician, a member of the Jaycees, secretary of the Elizabethtown Sports Booster Club, chairman of the MLK parade, a Board of Education member and PTA activist, a Mason, and a member of the governor’s One-on-One program.

In 1998, he was awarded the UNCF Tri-County Outstanding Citizen Award for community service. Other notable recognitions include the Social Security Regional Commissioner’s Outreach Award in 2000 and second vice-presidency of the Raleigh Chapter of Black Affairs Advisory Council in 2002.

Bullock graduated cum laude with a B.S. degree in Business Education from Barber-Scotia College in 1973.

The MLK celebration will include inspirational music and student participation. The college welcomes the community to the event.
