Sprint Carolina Telephone Scholarship Program
The scholarships are valued at $500 each. The funds will be distributed to the students in two payments: fall - $250, and spring - $250.

To qualify as a candidate for a scholarship, or to continue as a scholarship recipient, a student must meet the following criteria:
1. The student must be a resident of North Carolina.
2. The student must be enrolled (or just intend to enroll) in a course of study leading to a technical degree or vocational diploma.
3. The student must maintain a passing grade average at or above the level required for graduation.
4. The student must continue at the institution where he/she was enrolled at the time of the scholarship award for the duration of the scholarship.
5. The student must agree to attend a one-day seminar conducted by Sprint Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company in addition to the student's regular school activities. The date and location of the seminar will be determined by the Telephone Company.
6. Priority in awarding the scholarships will be to minorities and "displaced workers." Carolina Telephone defines minorities as Blacks, Spanish-Surnamed Americans , American Indians/Native Alaskans, and Orientals; and "displaced worker" as a person who has lost his/her job because of obsolete job skills or because of economic recession in his/her former field of employment.
