Star Telephone Membership Corporation Scholarship Program

STAR TELEPHONE MEMBERSHIP CORPORATION COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Star Telephone Membership Corporation Scholarship Program has been established to assist high school graduates who have outstanding academic abilities and a need for financial assistance to further their goal of a college education.

To qualify as a candidate for a scholarship or to continue as a scholarship recipient, a student must meet the following criteria:

1. The student must be a resident of North Carolina and reside in the service area of Star Telephone
Membership Corporation.

2. The student must be enrolled (or intend to enroll) in a course of study leading to a two-year technical
degree or community college transfer degree at Bladen Community College.

3. The student must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above, throughout the duration of the scholarship.

4. The student must continue at the institution where he/she was enrolled at the time of the scholarship
award for the duration of the scholarship.

5. The candidates shall be selected and the scholarships awarded without regard to the race, sex, color,
     creed, religious preference, age, national origin or handicap of each candidate. Likewise,
     the committee may consider but shall not favor candidates who are members of the families of
     Star Telephone Membership Corporation employees. Such candidates shall be considered
     on an equal basis with all other candidates, without regard to any family relationship which may
     exist between the candidates and a Star Telephone Membership Membership
     Corporation employee.

6. Recipients must be willing to visit Star Telephone Corporation's headquarters facility for a personal
tour of the facilities, photo session, and attendance at the annual meeting.

Star Telephone Membership Corporation may present the scholarships from time to time in honor or memory of outstanding persons in the Star Telephone Membership Corporation service area. The recipients of the scholarships shall be selected from candidates meeting the above criteria by the BCC Financial Aid/Scholarship Committee and a representative from Star Telephone Membership Corporation.

The scholarships are valued at $500 each. The funds will be distributed to the student recipients in two payments: Fall semester $250 and Spring semester $250.
