The Joy of Sox
Bladen Community College Practical Nursing Students will embrace the 2016 Christmas spirit with a drive to collect new socks for the homeless.
“Our goal,” says BCC Nursing Instructor Tina Forrester, “is to give to a local shelter or a shelter in a surrounding area that represents our student population.”
The Joy of Sox began in 2010 as a Philadelphia based effort to provide clean, new socks for the homeless. Now, the philanthropy has spread to 28 states and 3 countries. This is the first year BCC has participated in the campaign.
Forrester remarks, “Many times when people donate clothes or toiletries, socks are not included. If you can donate one pair or ten pair, we would love for you to help us fill this need with ‘the joy of sox’.”
Socks can be dropped off at the Allied Health Building, in offices 101, 102, 112, and 113 until Friday, December 9, at 10 a.m.
