The Bladen Community College Writing Center is a free service for Bladen Community College students and the community it serves. Visit the Writing Center in Building 8 Room 2 to meet our friendly tutors. You may make an appointment, but walk-ins are always welcome!
You can meet with our tutors face-to-face or virtually to go over your papers and get coached on how to improve your work. Together with a tutor, you can brainstorm, plan, draft, document, revise, or edit your paper.
If you are working on your paper and cannot meet with a tutor, you may submit your work online and a tutor will provide you the feedback you need within 24-48 hours. If you are facing technical issues uploading a paper, please email the writing center at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In spring 2017, we had several workshops. You can retrieve the schedule and the handouts (from the downloads).
Summer Creative Writing Opportunities
The Writing Center aims to serve the needs of Bladen Community College students and the community. For summer 2017, we are going to have writing prompts suitable for all ages. We believe writing is fun. Share our belief and submit a poem, an essay, or a short story in response to the prompts for each week. You may submit and resubmit as many times as you need. You may also respond to one or more of the pictures.
TEAS Prep Sessions
As of August 15, 2017, you will be able to sign up at the Writing Center for TEAS Prep sessions. You will have two options: attend the organized sessions (schedule of sessions will be posted September 1, 2017) or take an appointment with one of the tutors. Our tutors will help you master the skills required for reading and English. You can come alone or with a group of friends. Walk-ins are welcome!
If you need practice with math, please visit the LEC, schedule an appointment with a math tutor, and start your journey towards success. Our schedule for the TEAS prep sessions for science will be posted on September 1, 2017.
If you are a prospective student, and you have not written any essays in a long time, we encourage you to visit our Writing Center before you take the placement test. Through the Writing Center, you can practice writing essays, improve your reading skills, and review your grammar. Once you feel you are ready, you can take our placement test. Our tutors will provide you with feedback on your writing. Their feedback will help you become aware of some writing strategies that you can apply to write more effectively.
