Bladen Community College Foundation

2020 Ending Balance

The Bladen Community College Foundation raises awareness, financial resources, and other assets to support the mission of Bladen Community College. The Foundation is committed to preserving and enhancing the resources with which it is entrusted through accuracy, transparency, and good stewardship. It supports student achievement through scholarships, provides opportunities for the faculty and staff to receive mini-grants for innovative programs and assists with other campus needs. The Foundation sponsors a signature, annual event each fall —Sunset and Vine — which was last held October 24, 2019 at LuMil Winery. Record attendance and perfect weather set the stage for a memorable occasion that resulted in significant funds raised to increase the amount and number of scholarships for Bladen Community College students. CLICK HERE to learn more about the event in a published article, courtesy of Alan Wooten, Editor of the Bladen Journal. In the interest of caution and the promotion of safe practices for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, the annual event was postponed for fall 2020. The Foundation continues to accept donations in support of student scholarships and special projects for the college at a time when needs are great due to the pandemic.

Bladen Community College Now Registering Students for Spring Semester 2021

Bladen Community College will welcome the new year and students back to campus with final countdown days to register for Spring Semester 2021 on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 and Thursday, January 7, 2021. Spring Semester 2021 classes begin Monday, January 11th. Counselors and faculty advisors are available to assist students in registering for classes, financial aid, scholarships and obtaining information for a successful community college experience.

The new advising center is open, and students can schedule personalized sessions whether online, by phone or safely on campus by contacting the center at 910.879.5584 or emailing at bccadvising@bladencc.edu.

“The staff and faculty of BCC are always energized when students return for spring semester after the holidays,” remarks Jeff Kornegay, Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer. “The excitement of new opportunities and new beginnings prevails.”

“Our semester enrollment for students in continuing education and workforce development training is typically very strong in the spring,” comments Sondra Guyton, Vice President for Workforce and Continuing Education. “Our new GEER scholarships are expected to lead to a robust enrollment and students should inquire about this opportunity now as it is on a first come, first serve basis.” Dr. Amanda Lee, BCC President, added “What is so exciting in particular about this semester is its anticipated offering of new programs, the new buildings, and the continuation of safe protocols to ensure the health and safety of all on our campus. We begin 2021 with growth and increased resources for our students, faculty, and staff.”
