This scholarship was established by Ms. Tiina Mundy as the first Summer Scholarship at Bladen Community College. It was personally funded my Ms. Mundy who accepted a challenge to do a virtual swim the length of the Florida Keys. She wanted to do something to mark a personal milestone and to support the college. Ms. Mundy is the Human Resources Director at BCC.

Scholarship Criteria:

• Be enrolled in the summer semester taking 6-8 credit hours.

• Submit a scholarship application.

• Be motivated and capable learner who has demonstrated economic need.

• Submit an essay stating why they have chosen their particular field of study and how the scholarship will help them attain their educational goal.

• Continue enrollment for the duration of the scholarship.

• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.

• Submit a letter of recommendation by his/her high school principal, college counselor or community leader.

Preference will be given to a student who is a Bladen County resident. If there is no applicant who meets this criteria, then it will be left to the discretion of the Scholarship Committee to select an otherwise qualified student.

It is hoped that the recipient will regard this scholarship as an obligation to make the most of their career goals and an opportunity to help others.
