Coming June 1st – Introduction to CNC Machining

Beginning June 1st, Bladen Community College will offer a short-term training opportunity for those interested in obtaining machining skills or enhancing skills that they have learned in their current jobs.  CNC machining skills are in high demand and wages reflect that demand.

In response to the needs of local industry, Bladen Community College Continuing Education department brought in engineering technologies expert, Randy Johnson, to design a short course in CNC mill and lathe operations. The course will also provide needed skills for the metalworking industry such as blueprint reading.

“Local industry depends on the availability of skilled workers and we at BCC are committed to help expand that pool. We are excited about offering this class with an experienced, knowledgeable instructor such as Randy Johnson,” said Dr. Amanda Lee, President of Bladen Community College. .

“Introduction to CNC Machining” will be offered following Covid-19 social distance requirements and classes are held in a safe, clean, well equipped environment in the college’s industrial bay at its new STEM and Advanced Manufacturing Building.   Interested students may also qualify for a scholarship program offered by the state that covers all costs associated with the course.  Staff at Bladen Community College can help individuals determine if they are eligible for the scholarship.

The hybrid class (both online and in person classes) will meet 4:30-7:30 PM on Tuesday and Thursday starting June 1st with the online learning to supplement the hands-on skills in class..
