Controller

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Controller (12 months).  Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with major course work in accounting, finance, business, mathematics or related field from an accredited institution.  A minimum of three years, five preferred, of analytical experience involving research and reporting of complex data in accounting and budgeting.

Duties include: overseeing and maintaining the college’s accounting system, including recording transactions, reporting financial data, developing the budget and financial plans, and participating in a variety of committees that require significant financial expertise. This position is also responsible for the system of internal controls and compliances with rules and regulations, including participating in the annual audit and other fiscal and compliance reviews.  The controller is expected to provide analysis for the college’s budgets and support the annual budget process by organizing and compiling regular and special budget reports. Plans, manages and directs the activities related to financial reporting. The controller provides highly responsible and administrative support to the vice president for finance.

English Instructor

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for an English instructor (full-time employment, 10 month).  Applicants must have a master’s degree in English.  Preference will be given to applicants with additional 18 graduate hours in communications, social sciences or fine arts. All degrees must be from an accredited institution.  Successful teaching experience in the English field is required.   Previous community college experience is preferred.

Duties include teaching English and literature, preparing course materials, teaching day and night classes, teaching online classes, organizing classes, keeping records, advising students, assisting with college activities, and performing related duties.

Emergency Medical Services Instructor

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a full-time (10 month) Instructor of Emergency Medical Services.  An associate in applied science degree, from an accredited institution is required, along with Level II Instructor credentials or ability to obtain Level II within one year.  Applicants must have three years of experience in emergency care.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

Essential job duties include:  training students, assisting part-time instructors in EMS, curriculum development, ensuring EMS courses are taught to standards of the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS), monitoring on-campus and off-campus classes, familiarity with Moodle Distance Education instruction, reviewing all records and reports for accuracy and instructing semester courses as assigned while insuring performance measures meet those required by the North Carolina Community College System.

Physical Plant Services Technician

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a full time Physical Plant Services Technician.    Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED; with five to seven years’ experience in maintenance.

Essential job duties include:  ability to perform general electrical and plumbing duties; ability to provide upkeep of facilities and grounds; landscaping; general maintaining of equipment; and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Writing Center Coordinator

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for a part-time Writing Center Coordinator (grant-funded).  Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in English.  Preference will be given to applicants with a master’s degree. All degrees must be from an accredited institution.  Successful experience in writing centers and/or teaching experience in the English field is preferred.

Duties include coordinating tutors’ schedules, monitoring feedback given to students, organizing workshops and programs, tutoring, training new tutors, finding resources, updating the Writing Center webpage, marketing the Writing Center, and performing related duties.

The position will begin August 15, 2017

Duties include tutoring, visiting classes and giving short presentations, giving workshops training new tutors, finding resources, updating the Writing Center webpage, marketing the Writing Center, and performing related duties.

English as a Second Language Instructor

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a part-time English as a second language (ESL) instructor. Applicants must have a bachelor degree. Ability to speak Spanish and experience in teaching is preferred.

Duties include teaching English language acquisition and integrated English literacy concepts and skills, preparing course materials and class lectures, keeping records, recruiting, and performing related duties.


Accounting Instructor

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for an adjunct accounting instructor (part-time employment).  Applicants must have a master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field from an accredited institution (18 graduate hours must be in accounting).  Accounting work related experience is preferred, as well as previous online and community college teaching experience.

Duties include teaching accounting and other related business courses, preparing course materials, organizing classes, labs, keeping records, advising students, assisting with college activities, and performing other related duties.


Part-Time Machining/Industrial Systems Technology Instructor

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a part time Machining/ Industrial Systems Technology instructor. Applicants must have an associate of applied science degree in Machining, Industrial Systems Technology or related field and three years of demonstrated machining and industrial systems experience.   It is required that individuals applying for this position have manual and CNC machining experience.

Duties include teaching machining and industrial systems concepts and skills, preparing course materials, organizing class lectures and utilizing smart room capabilities, preparing shop activities, keeping records, maintaining clean and orderly facilities, assisting with school activities, recruiting, and performing related duties.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTORS:

The Continuing Education Department is continually seeking qualified instructors for part-time employment. We offer a wide variety of courses that are tied to specific skill sets such as nursing assistant, office skills, emergency services, and human resource development, just to name a few. As a minimum, an associates degree or higher is required to instruct most courses, however strong work experience, skills, or specific certifications may be sufficient for certain classes. Those interested in part-time instruction should complete an application for employment, including an unofficial copy of transcripts and /or certifications, and return it to our personnel department. Positions are filled on an as-needed basis from the pool of qualified applicants.


BASIC SKILLS INSTRUCTORS:

The Basic Skills Department in Continuing Education is continually seeking qualified instructors for part-time employment. We seek instructors for GED, Adult Basic Education, Adult High School, and Compensatory Education. We also need substitute instructors in each of these areas. As a minimum, a bachelors degree is required for all lead instructor positions and an associates degree or higher is required for substitutes. Work experience in education, instruction, or with adult learners is preferred.
