Community Service and Records Specialist

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a full-time (12 month) Community Service and Records Specialist. The qualifications for this job include an associate degree and two years work experience in an educational setting.

The Community Service and Records Specialist is responsible for planning, marketing, and implementing community service courses, preparing contracts and ordering supplies, and managing the defensive driving program; key student data and submit appropriate documentation for students to receive National Center for Construction Education and Research credentials (NCCER).  Complete NCCER reports; work with students and employers to find work experience and job placements; and register students, prepare student certificates, maintain course files and perform other duties as assigned.

Review of applications begins January 31, 2017; however, applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is identified.


Recruiting and Retention Coordinator

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a full-time (12 month) Recruiting and Retention Coordinator. The qualifications for this job include a bachelor’s degree in education, business, or closely related field from an accredited institution. The master’s degree is preferred.  A minimum of three years of post-secondary or secondary education experience is required. The person employed must have excellent grammar, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. Documented ability to effectively organize programs; ability to prioritize and execute multiple roles/responsibilities and work autonomously.

Duties include coordinating student recruiting and retention activities. The person will be responsible for presentations to prospective students, student body, college personnel, and civic organizations. The employed person will recruit students, administer placement tests, provide academic and career advising for students, and serve as the lead contact for retention software application. The person is expected to be knowledgeable of college student services programs. The person will also oversee the Men of Standard Mentoring Program. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Adjunct Communications Arts Instructor

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor of communication arts. Applicants must hold either a master’s degree in communication studies or a master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in communication studies from an accredited institution. Successful teaching experience in the field of communication arts is required. Previous community college experience is preferred.

Duties include teaching communications arts, preparing course materials, organizing classes, keeping records, and performing related duties.

English as a Second Language Instructor

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a part-time English as a second language (ESL) instructor. Applicants must have a bachelor degree. Ability to speak Spanish and experience in teaching is preferred.

Duties include teaching English language acquisition and integrated English literacy concepts and skills, preparing course materials and class lectures, keeping records, recruiting, and performing related duties.


 

Accounting Instructor

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for an adjunct accounting instructor (part-time employment).  Applicants must have a master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field from an accredited institution (18 graduate hours must be in accounting).  Accounting work related experience is preferred, as well as previous online and community college teaching experience.

Duties include teaching accounting and other related business courses, preparing course materials, organizing classes, labs, keeping records, advising students, assisting with college activities, and performing other related duties.


Part-Time Machining/Industrial Systems Technology Instructor

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a part time Machining/ Industrial Systems Technology instructor. Applicants must have an associate of applied science degree in Machining, Industrial Systems Technology or related field and three years of demonstrated machining and industrial systems experience.   It is required that individuals applying for this position have manual and CNC machining experience.

Duties include teaching machining and industrial systems concepts and skills, preparing course materials, organizing class lectures and utilizing smart room capabilities, preparing shop activities, keeping records, maintaining clean and orderly facilities, assisting with school activities, recruiting, and performing related duties.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTORS:

The Continuing Education Department is continually seeking qualified instructors for part-time employment. We offer a wide variety of courses that are tied to specific skill sets such as nursing assistant, office skills, emergency services, and human resource development, just to name a few. As a minimum, an associates degree or higher is required to instruct most courses, however strong work experience, skills, or specific certifications may be sufficient for certain classes. Those interested in part-time instruction should complete an application for employment, including an unofficial copy of transcripts and /or certifications, and return it to our personnel department. Positions are filled on an as-needed basis from the pool of qualified applicants.


BASIC SKILLS INSTRUCTORS:

The Basic Skills Department in Continuing Education is continually seeking qualified instructors for part-time employment. We seek instructors for GED, Adult Basic Education, Adult High School, and Compensatory Education. We also need substitute instructors in each of these areas. As a minimum, a bachelors degree is required for all lead instructor positions and an associates degree or higher is required for substitutes. Work experience in education, instruction, or with adult learners is preferred. Positions are filled on an as-needed basis from the pool of qualified applicants.
