Nursing Instructor

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for a full time (10 month) nursing instructor. A master’s degree in nursing is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in nursing and the demonstration of beginning a master’s degree program within two years of employment are required. Must currently possess an unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. Healthcare Provider level CPR certification required. Prior to or within the first two years of employment, must document preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to assignment. Two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse required. Must have appropriate knowledge and clinical skills for teaching assignment and meet health requirements of the department.

The individual in this position is responsible for participating in the planning, implementation, evaluation and revision of the program curriculum. The teaching load for the full-time nursing instructor averages 18-21 student contact hours per week each semester. Five office hours per week are required. Essential duties and functions include: Creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing and reviewing/revising curriculum courses, clinical instruction and simulation experiences, and maintaining positive working relationships with faculty and staff.

Director of Institutional Effectiveness/Planning

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for a Director of Institutional Effectiveness/Planning (full-time, 12 month). The qualifications for this job include a master’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Three to five years of experience in an educational setting and/or knowledge of strategic planning and accreditation. The director, in collaboration with faculty and staff, creates, nurtures, assesses, and continuously improves the environment and systems necessary to realize the planning and institutional effectiveness goals of the College.

Duties include directing the institutional planning process; tracking and maintaining a schedule of routine internal and external surveys and reports; supports college planning and evaluation processes. The director must have the ability to demonstrate competence with statistical analysis, competence in the design and implementation of various research and analytical tools, understanding of current and successful strategic and operational planning models, and demonstrate competence in oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. An understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and mission. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equal opportunity, and the academic, intellectual, and social development of all students. The director must have a willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends.

Career Coach

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for a full-time (12 month) Career Coach. The qualifications for this job include a bachelor’s degree in education, business, or closely related field from an accredited institution. Master’s degree is preferred. Two years of secondary or post-secondary education experience is preferred. The person employed must have excellent grammar, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. Documented ability to effectively organize programs; ability to prioritize and execute multiple roles/responsibilities and work autonomously.

The Career Coach is responsible for cultivating programs and services for high school students, so students can successfully enter and advance into a career pathway. Duties include career exploration, advising, registration, and support services for high school students entering college-level pathways. Assist students in making informed decisions related to high school, community colleges, universities, military, and workforce training by providing timely information and guidance. The person will follow a communication plan to ensure consistent communication with students, parents/guardians, faculty, and staff. The employed person will recruit students to include but not limited to the Career and College Promise program for STEM and advanced manufacturing technology courses. The person must demonstrate knowledge in all aspects of the student experience to include: coaching, mentoring, academic/career advising, student/career services, and progression. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Adjunct American Sign Language  Instructor

Bladen Community College is accepting applications for an American Sign Language adjunct instructor. Applicants must have a master’s degree or 18 graduate hours in American Sign Language. Previous community college experience is preferred.

Adjunct Electrical Technology Instructor

Bladen Community College is now accepting applications for a part time Electrical Technology Instructor. Applicants must have an associate’s degree in Electrical Technology or related field from an accredited institution. Applicants must have three years of demonstrated electrical and industrial systems experience.   It is required that individuals applying for this position have digital electronics, and PLC experience.

Duties include teaching basic control methods, electrical and electronic trouble shooting, Alan Bradley PLCs, electrical measurements, digital electronics, instrumentation, and power transmission systems concepts and skills, preparing course materials, organizing class lectures and utilizing smart room capabilities, preparing shop activities, keeping records, maintaining clean and orderly facilities, assisting with school activities, recruiting, and performing related duties.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTORS:

The Continuing Education Department is continually seeking qualified instructors for part-time employment. We offer a wide variety of courses that are tied to specific skill sets such as nursing assistant, office skills, emergency services, and human resource development, just to name a few. As a minimum, an associates degree or higher is required to instruct most courses, however strong work experience, skills, or specific certifications may be sufficient for certain classes. Those interested in part-time instruction should complete an application for employment, including an unofficial copy of transcripts and /or certifications, and return it to our personnel department. Positions are filled on an as-needed basis from the pool of qualified applicants.


BASIC SKILLS INSTRUCTORS:

The Basic Skills Department in Continuing Education is continually seeking qualified instructors for part-time employment. We seek instructors for GED, Adult Basic Education, Adult High School, and Compensatory Education. We also need substitute instructors in each of these areas. As a minimum, a bachelors degree is required for all lead instructor positions and an associates degree or higher is required for substitutes. Work experience in education, instruction, or with adult learners is preferred.
